Freshly married: August 10, 2011 – Burlington, Vermont

I’m Ellie (on the left in the photo above), and my wife is Janet. I’m currently studying civil engineering at Georgia Tech. I have about a year and a half left. Janet is an oncology nurse and a darn good one!

We met in 2009 through mutual friends and got married in August of 2011. A good friend of ours married us on the top deck of the Northern Lights steamboat on Lake Champlain. It was a magical time for us, surrounded by the best of friends.

We knew we wanted children, so we didn’t mess around after getting hitched. It took us what felt like an eternity to get pregnant. We went through so much to get to parenthood! Janet took such good care of her body while it was poked and prodded over and over again.

We were shocked to find out that we were pregnant in August of 2013.

We are The Blacktaels. This blog is a glimpse into our journey as a gay family, an organic family, a green family, and a loving and diverse family.
